August 2018 Reflection

In recent weeks I have been listening to a song with the words Christ is Enough for me. This is such a simple song but one that reminds us all that actually, Christ should be enough for each one of us.

Whatever is going on in our personal lives or whatever is going on in the world, a reminder to us all that we don’t always have to be searching for answers or better ways of doing things, or changing things to make situations better, or always seeking different people to lead because they will bring something different, can bring us some comfort; instead we need to simply be seeking Christ in everything we face and experience.

He is the peace that we often need, He is the way we so often are seeking, He is the life that will help us to feel energised again, He is the one who helps us not to be afraid, He simply is the one and true living God who is the perfect answer to all the worlds needs, He is the perfect model of how we need to live, He is the way the, the truth and the life: God is perfect love and perfect Father and to Him we must continue to look. Christ is Enough for me.

Tim helped us to think about (on Sunday 15th July) when we enter the holiday season don’t forget God, as He is with us in our daily lives, so He wants to be with us in our holidays – Christ needs to be at the centre of our lives at all times and in all places.

By focusing on this one line in the Summer months may God be all that we need during August, for those that have the opportunity to go away may you experience more of God’s love in the places you visit, for those who remain at home, may you experience God’s love in a new a fresh way: may our prayer be for each other this Summer that Christ is Enough for us all.

Paul often said throughout His ministry that He learnt what it was to be content in all situations and as we experience some of what Paul is saying in his teaching, our contentment is in Christ, then may our desire be that we want to share this with others in the different places God will take us over the Summer holidays.

Whatever we may be doing during August may we continue to pray for the mission and outreach of the church in the Holiday Club and in Summer Special. We want to encourage people of all ages in our summer mission that Christ is Enough, He is all that we need, our searching can end when we experience the wonder of God’s love for us. We want people to find their contentment in Christ during these Summer holidays.

So please in your times of rest remember your own relationship with God (cherish it and nurture it), please continue to pray for the mission of the church as we engage in Holiday Club and Summer Special and please continue to pray for one another that we would experience more of God’s love and power within each one of our lives.

As we go into this month of August I share this blessing from the Northumbria Community:

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you,
wherever He may send you.
May He guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May He bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders He has shown you.
May He bring you home rejoicing
once again into our doors.

I hope and pray that you all have a great August and we look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things that God has being in our lives during this Summer holiday season.

With love and prayers

Matt
