An angel of the Lord appeared and the glory of the Lord shone around them (Luke 2)

I love this time of the year and it is a season, that even with challenges in the world and even maybe personally in our own lives, where we can receive great comfort from the promises that God gives to us.

The story of Jesus’ birth is one of amazing challenge but also great promise. The challenge to respond to this great news is one of obedience to follow the one we call Saviour. How will we live our lives in accordance to the one who comes to us?

The comfort comes in so many promises attached with this birth:

  • God comes to us
  • God is with us
  • The light of Christ shines in the darkness
  • The glory of the Lord is all around us
  • We do not need to be afraid
  • God leads us and guides
  • He will be the Saviour – Jesus saves
  • He will be called Immanuel – God with us
  • Let us never forget the reason why He came - by His stripes our wounds will be healed our sins will be forgiven – Christmas is a time when we can move on from the past and be led into a glorious future
  • I have come that they may have life and life in all its fullness

The glory and the promises that came with the birth of Christ shone all around them.

My prayer for each of us this Christmas time is that we would know the light of Christ, the love of Christ shining into each one of our lives, may we take comfort from the hope that Christ gives to us.

All the power and glory and wisdom are in Christ Jesus and they come to us through this wonderful birth: and so as we look back and we begin to look forward, may we know that power of Christ with us, the wisdom of Christ guiding us and may we all experience the joy of all those who encountered the birth of Christ all those years ago.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom His favour rests… (Luke 2)

As we praise God this Christmas time may we know His peace and may His glory shine into our lives and into the communities in which we live and serve.

May you all have a wonderful Christmas time and may God bless you in ways you may not have ever thought about or imagined. Happy Christmas, with love and prayers from

Matt, Tash, Anais and Noah
